The MM Project

I have to apologize that I didn‘t give you any information about the comic book I presented you some days ago. It is the official bio of Scrooge McDuck (or in Germany Dagobert Duck) drawn, written and researched by one of the best Disney-Artists Don Rosa. I am a big fan of Don Rosa even though I only have one („The Lost Charts of Columbus“) of his almost 90 comic stories. I love this rough, phyisical and detailed style he has. I think if the Ducks were real, they would look like Don Rosa draws them.

Rosa researched the life of Scrooge from statements made in Carl Barks‘ stories. In this issue there are 12 chapters. There is also a companion release featuring some bonus chapters. I only found an English version, the German version containing the original chapters and the bonus chapters was out of stock even before its release date. There were only 1000 copies made and many more people preordered the book.

The fun-thing about this story is that it was first published in Germany in the Micky-Maus-Magazin in 1993. I had some of the chapters cause I was reading the MMM (one M more than in my artist name) regularly when I was young. When I started to read Disney-Comics again mid of last year I remembered this story. When I moved to my new apartment last fall I even found an old „Junior Woodchucks“ („Fähnlein Fieselschweif“ in Germany) comic-collection in my stuff (see small picture) that also features „The Lost Charts of Columbus“. Additionally I am thinking of becoming a member of the D.O.N.A.L.D. which is a German organisation that takes care about the Barks-legacy. As a special service for members you can borrow comics just for the price of the shipping. So I will be able to read all the Barks-stories w/ buying all of them (which would be an expenisive fun).

I‘m looking foward to reading the Scrooge bio. I ordered it on Monday, it left the stock on Tuesday and should arrive today. But due to the fact that I‘m not at home I will have to fetch it from the post office again. Oh, I just looked out of the window and it started snowing again. Heard that it will snow very much this weekend. Weather chaos again!
