OK, here is another mindblower for you. Maybe you still remember the two classic cartoon shows The Flintstones and The Jetsons. If not: bad dog! Just a short explaination: The Flintstones was an animated TV-sitcom that first appeared in the late 1950ies and its first installment ran for about 6 years or so. It shows stoneage people that has hardly any technology. Everything is done by using dinosaurs and prehistoric birds and mammals. Basically we see animals that never actually were around together in the same time period. But it is just a cartoon show after all. The society shown in this show is more like the American society from the mids 20th centuary, though. The Jetsons on the other hand are the exact opposite to that. The show takes place in the far future. People are living in cities above the clouds, have flying cars, jetpacks, robots and whatever you can think of. Actually The Jetsons is a nice example of the socalled retro futurism. Because again, the show portrays American society from the mid 20th centuary. (read on…)

WARNING: If you are not or have never been a fan of Pokémon, reading on is futile. If Pokémon was a big part of your childhood, be aware of being MINDFUCKED! Level of mind-blowingness: Brain goes supernova!!!

It all started with a podcast. A special episode of my favorite videogame podcast, Pixelburg (Pixelcastle). The Pixelburg’s a bunch of kids (20 + years old) who are writing, podcasting and making internet shows about videogames. The latest podcast episode deals with the Pokémon franchise. They actually talked for 5 hours about Pokémon!!! Pokémon was an important game for me. It changed the way I consumed videogames. The game forced us kids to connect with each other to trade Pokémon and fight via the link cable. And I really spent a lot of time with reading about the Pokémon universe and being a part of the German fan online-community (which still exists). Of course, in the end of the day, it is just a videogame franchise supported by merchandising, a TV show and big feature movies. But there are some weird things that I already noticed a long time ago. (read on…)

Hey OK, I said I wouldn‘t talk about MLP here but I can‘t leave this matter uncommented. My Little Filly

Actually I wanted to post a gigantic article about My Little Pony. But I mean, everybody has to check out this show by himself. So I won‘t talk about MLP here! Well, I am looking for MLP toys for some time and it is quite hard to get some in my hometown. But you can easily get the German rip-off called Filly! The other day I was in one of the most traditional toy shops in my town and when I asked the clerk about My Little Pony, she was like „What’s that?“ I just grabbed a random Filly thing from the counter and said „Something like this from Hasbro!“ She told me they only had Filly, I hated her, and my pal and me left the shop. I saw Rainbow Dash and Princess Celestia toys the other day but RD had giant butterfly wings and Celestia was way too expensive. So yesterday night when I was in the supermarket I just grabbed into the box of Filly-blindbags. They were only 1.99 and I was curious what was so special about them. The store was quite full, yesterday Germany had their first football match in the European Championship and it was halftime when I was there. So I sneaked around this box. Not because I was afraid that somebody who knew me would see that I was about to buy a girls-toy, I didn‘t want to let anybody see how I buy a Filly.

When I had left the store I looked around me. When I knew I was alone I opened the bag. The first thing I noticed was a terrible smell. The figure smelled awfully like chemicals. I took out the figure and was confused. I couldn‘t find it in the list that was printed on the backside of the bag. Than I noticed that the figure looked somewhat special. And suddenly I realized that I drew the rarest of this figures. Princess Jewel. I checked the description that also was in the blindbag. It said Princess Jewel had a moodstone in her crown. Actually those stones work through the change of temperatures. Anyways, she also had 3 extra Swarovski Elements. You must know Swarovski stones are made of glass that is grinded like diamonds. And the figure still had this awful chemical smell.

I checked the other 20 figures. And even though you can get Filly-products much easier than My Little Pony stuff, they suck so terribly! First of all, every Filly-Pony wears a crown. No matter if they live in the forest or in the village. There are even male Fillies. But in fact they just look like the female ones. They only have male names like Florian, Xander and Adolf Hitler! You see, I don‘t really like Filly.

I hope Hasbro releases more MLP-toys in Germany soon. „When I was a littly filly and the sun was going dooooown… na na na“ huh?

DON‘T follow the little stinking FILLY!!!

Gay Lantern

DC introduced a gay character. Speculations were around the internet for about a time and I didn‘t know enough to actually take part in this. As far as I understood the few things I heard about this, DC said that an „iconic character“ will be revealed as gay (as in homosexual) during June, and that this character has still not appeared in the New 52. One theory said that Alan Scott (the Golden Age Green Lantern) could be the one. Well he appeared briefly in Earth 2 #1 (almost as shown in the post-related pic, I only slightly modified it) so I thought maybe it would not be him in the end. It is, though!

I don‘t care if any of the characters in my comics is homosexual. I don‘t even care if they are straight. I admit I like the art of Harley Quinn and Poison Ivy in the comics from the 1990ies. That’s a men-thing, men like lesbians making up. But that’s far away from a personal sexual orientation thing. Let me put it down like this: it should be unimportant if somebody prefers men or women. And announcing to introduce a gay character is like putting the sexual orientation into the center point of interest. It is like: look, this guy is gay! It would be easier if DC would just put a GIANT arrow pointing on the character (whoever it will be in the end) saying „GAY“ all the time. Cause I don‘t think that they will come around with a decent story around his relationship.

Can you at least name one gay MARVEL character? No? But there are some! For example Hulkling and Wiccan are a couple! There are some more, I don‘t remember atm. Why can‘t you not name any gay MARVELs? Because they don‘t have that giant arrow! The sexual orientation does not matter for a superhero. Even though MARVEL takes a much bigger look into the private life of all their heroes, sexuality does not really appear. OK, I admit we saw Spider-Man after sex with Black Cat several times. But that counts for DC, too! Seeing Black Canary dressing up for fighty-fighty in Final Crisis and Green Arrow still laying in bed only wearing his trunks in the same picture somewhat disturbed me. I bet you, they won‘t show any scenes like that with gay characters. So why even have them?
